ThreadStrategy

Enum ThreadStrategy

Source
pub enum ThreadStrategy {
    MainThread,
    WorkerThread,
}
Expand description

Thread execution strategy for C wrappers.

Variants§

§

MainThread

Execute on main R thread with with_r_unwind_protect. Default.

All code runs on R’s main thread. Errors are returned as tagged SEXP values (via make_rust_condition_value) and the R wrapper raises structured condition objects. Simpler execution model with better R integration.

Also required when:

  • Function takes SEXP inputs (not Send)
  • Function returns raw SEXP
  • Instance method (self_ptr isn’t Send)
  • Function uses variadic dots (Dots type isn’t Send)
  • #[miniextendr(check_interrupt)] used
§

WorkerThread

Execute on worker thread with panic catching. Opt-in via #[miniextendr(worker)].

Structure:

  1. Argument conversion on main thread
  2. Function execution on worker thread via run_on_worker
  3. SEXP conversion on main thread with with_r_unwind_protect
