The error of a no_default that cannot apply (#1828), or None: on a
parameter that is neither match_arg nor choices (only a choice
parameter gets a generated default to drop), or together with a default.
method_list picks the spellings named: the method-level
no_default(p) / defaults(p = ...), else the parameter’s own
no_default / default = "...".
